Details:
My main research interest is the mediation of science and technology. My dissertation project concerns the display of innovations at the New York World’s fair of 1939. The protection of innovations at the New York World’s Fair 1939
The World’s fair of 1939 was the first World’s Fair to pay a tribute to the future. In a time when the USA was trying to recover from the great depression at the same time being on the brink of a world war, science and technology was presented as the saviors of the future. I will focus on the display of innovation and how these innovations were protected by the fair administration. I will look into the patent protection of the innovations exhibited on the World’s fair and the tension between the object and the text.
